God loves you - yes - you!
Would you like to know for sure that you are going to heaven?
If God were to ask you: "Why should I let you into heaven?" - what would you say? Only the Bible tells you how to know for sure that you have eternal life and will be with God in heaven forever.
"These things I have written unto you...that you may know you have eternal life..." (1 John 5:13)
1. ETERNAL LIFE is a free gift. It is not earned or deserved.
"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." (Romans 6:23)
"For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith - and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God - not by works, so that no one can boast." (Ephesians 2:8-9).
No one can earn his way to heaven. Really? That's not what you thought? The Bible says that...
2. MAN is a sinner and cannot save himself. "...for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23).
However, the Bible says that in spite of our sin...
3. GOD is merciful. “He saved us, not because of righteous things which we had done, but because of His mercy.” (Titus 3:5), but He is also just. "Yet He does not leave the guilty unpunished...." (Exodus 34:7b)
God loves us and doesn't want to punish us, but He is just and holy, and must punish sin. The Bible says that God solved this problem for us in the person of...
4. JESUS CHRIST, the infinite God-man - "In the beginning was the Word (Jesus) and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." (John 1:1).
He died on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins. He rose from the grave to purchase a place for us in heaven. "...that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that He was buried, that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Peter, and then to the Twelve."(1 Corinthians 15:3b-5)
Jesus now offers you eternal life (heaven) as a free gift. The Bible says that this gift is received by...
5. FAITH, the key that opens the door to heaven. Saving faith is not mere HEAD knowledge, like believing certain historical facts. Even the demons believe there is one God. "You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that - and shudder." (James 2:19).
Saving faith is not TEMPORAL, either; that is, trusting God when a crisis of the world strikes you, (such as financial, family, or physical needs). You should trust Christ for these, but they are not saving faith.
Saving faith is trusting in Jesus alone for eternal life. It means resting upon Him and what He has done on the cross for you, rather than in what you or I have done to get us into heaven.
"For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith - and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God - not by works, so that no one can boast." (Ephesians 2:8-9).
You have just read about the greatest offer ever made by the greatest person who ever lived, Jesus Christ. The question that God is asking you now is...
Would you like to receive the gift of eternal life?
Because this is is such an important manner, let's make sure what it involves.
Transfer your trust from what you have been doing to what Christ has done for you on the cross. Accept Christ as your Lord and Savior. Be willing to turn from anything that is not pleasing to Him. He will reveal His will to you as you grow in your relationship with Him.
You can go to God in prayer right now wherever you are. You can receive His gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ right now! "For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved." (Romans 10:10)
Here's a suggested prayer:
"Lord Jesus Christ, I know I am a sinner and do not deserve eternal life. I believe you died and rose from the grave to purchase a place in heaven for me. Lord Jesus, come into my life; take control of my life; forgive my sins and save me. I now place my trust in You for my salvation. I accept the free gift of eternal life."
If this prayer is the sincere desire of your heart, look at what Jesus promises you. "Most assuredly I say to you, he who believes in Me has everlasting life".
(John 6:47)
